Message from the Arts and Sciences Co-ordinator

Greetings,

As Arts and Sciences Co-ordinator for the upcoming Rowany Festival, I'm going to try a few small changes.  Naturally, like all previous A&S Co-ordinators, I'm really keen to hear what you, the populace, would like to see, do and learn about.  If you have a collegia all ready to roll out, or the inklings of a new one, then please contact me with a title, brief description and preferred timeslot/s.

For those of you who are unused to teaching, or, would perhaps prefer to demonstrate your skills informally, perhaps you may like to participate in the artisans' work space.  This 'demonstration' format has been attempted recently by several other kingdoms at their signature events, with resounding success.  They've also had fun coming up with new names for these work spaces eg Artisans Alley, etc, so if you can think of an appropriate title then I'd love to hear from you!  Artisan's Lodge?

Basically, wherever gaps appear in the collegia timetable, the pavilions will be utilised either for guild demonstrations, topical forums or simply giving people a place to sit and work on their arts and science projects within a communal atmosphere.  During the workspace sessions, the populace will be encouraged to visit, ask questions and meet others with similar interests.  Depending upon the number of collegia offered, we may end up with a dedicated workspace pavilion.

Another small, albeit important, change, will be in terms of location and visibility.  The A&S pavilions will border the list field and be close by the tavern, so refreshments can be partaken of.  The pavilions will also bear large banners decorated with the familiar device of a candle within an arch to make them easier to find.

So, come and join in the fun and help make this year's arts and sciences activities the most interesting and memorable yet!  If you have ideas for forums, class offers or suggestions for what you'd like to learn, or even solutions to any previously encountered problems then I'd love to hear from you.

I can be contacted off list by emailing me at:

If people could please forward this missive to any interested local group members (who maybe internet challenged) it would be greatly appreciated.

Warmly,

Lady Tigriana la Joyera (Tig)
A&S Co-ordinator for Rowany Festival
